How I can replace the ECM in 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4L? voltage regulator is bad.?
I went to start my jeep and had zero battery. First I changed the battery, then the alternator. The new alternator is not charging the battery. When you open now your running on battery power, and as lose its charge starts off non-vital systems such as radio and the top screen. I checked all the cables and replace the terminals of the battery cables. I took him AutoZone and connected to your machine and the alternator delivery reads them all kinds of crazy, jumping from 11 volts to 24, and amplifiers went off the scale then dropped to negative 63! The only thing I can think of is the voltage regulator is crapping out (located on your computer, not the alternator). Would it be wise to pull a team from a junkyard? Is that a do-it-yourselfer?
someone gave the wrong information. voltage regulator is on the alternator and self-regulation. sounds like the alternator that you installed is defective. i own Cherokee this year exactly the same queue. ECM controls the engine controls and issues of emissions not being charged. find a different mechanic if this is what is leading you wrong.
