The boat that rocked Coral is a British comedy film, released in the UK on April 1, 2009. It was renamed Pirate Radio for release in the United States and Canada on November 13, 2009. Set in 1966, tells a fictional story about a pirate radio station broadcasting a ship to the UK. The film was written and directed by Richard Curtis and made by Working Title Films for Universal Pictures.

Carl (Tom Sturridge) arrives on the pirate ship Radio, Radio Rock, after being sent to stay with the ship's captain, his godfather, Quentin (Bill Nighy), we hope to establish their lives in a different track after being expelled from school. Here is the crew of dilapidated Rock Radio disc jockeys, led by Count (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a very good lover American rock, along with the soft and vulgar Dave (Nick Frost) and the naive but good-hearted Simon (Chris O'Dowd). Rock Radio controversial antics in the air have altered the feathers of a government minister, Dormandy, (Kenneth Branagh), who instructs his subordinate Twatt (Jack Davenport) to find a way to lose pirate radio, despite its popularity among the hungry masses of pop. The film concludes with subtitles stating that, despite the end of the "golden age of pirate radio, life dreams, with 299 stations radio rock around the pop music playing in the UK and 24 hours a day, and forty years later, the rock and roll is still strong, which ends with a montage of music records of success for the whole period of forty years.
